Network unit objective

In this unit, we focus on the wireless networking, especially on the Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN) and Mobile Ad hoc NETworks. To these purposes, we start our courses with an introduction on the different generation of  networks  and characteristics of each generation while basing on their two primary challenges. These challenges are the routing strategies and the protection of network.  After that, we give a remembering  on the IP version 4 addressing and the routing protocols. Then, we move to wireless networking and give their characteristics also their different kinds relative to the communication range. Also, we  talk about the mechanism of IP version 6 addressing.  Finally, we present the Mobile Ad hoc NETworks (MANET) while basing on  their topologies and  routing protocols used in them. We finish this chapter by giving a presentation on the Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) and Vehicular Ad hoc NETwork (VANET).
